Creating Bright-ready 'Loom' Videos in Camtasia

Many of our customers have found that simple, bite-sized voice-over videos can bring a slide deck to life and serve as a great 'refresher training' before going into a Bright practice exercise or simulation. Even though it's not our software, we created the steps below for customers who may be interested in using Camtasia to make videos with this style:
  1. Create Slides:
    1. The first step is simply to create or pull the slides you will review. As a general rule, we find this style of video works best if slides have no more than 10-20 words total, typically with larger fonts and image-driven content.
  2. iPhone 'Talking Head' Video:
    1. Next, have an engaging subject matter expert do a voiceover with the slides and record themselves with an iPhone (or if you have it, a fancy camera and lighting)
    2. The tone should be informal - as if your colleague were sitting right in front of you. Have them avoid reading word-for-word from a script and using an overdramatic stage voice.
    3. Have them send the video to you via email when they are done
  3. Merge Green Screen + Talking Head Video:
    1. Create a two-track Camtasia project
    2. Make the 'top' of the two layers a green screen with a clear circle in the middle (your Bright advisor can give you one if you don't know how to make it!)
    3. Make the 'bottom' layer the video of your SME
    4. Export the file as an mp4
  4. Apply Green Screen Filter in Camtasia with #09FF26 Hex Code:
    1. Now add the video to a new project - this will be your final video file with the slide images
    2. When you add the green screen video, Right click and select the 'Add Visual Effect' drop down, and then 'Remove a Color' (see below)
    3. Enter the hex code #09FF26 and .... voila the green disappears. We suggest you crop down to only show the circle in that layer to eliminate any potential remaining 'noise' from that layer.
    4. From there, just edit as usual to align slide images with the voiceover and/or cut and edit the original video. The result should look something like this:

FINAL STEP: Export and Load to Bright:
Export the project as an mp4 and load to Bright in the respect Moment! You can add multiple choice questions, self recordings, or other prompt types to bring the video to life and add interactivity
